Cecile Maxi ('23) Gives Anime Hunter x Hunter an 8.5 out of 10!

Cecile Maxi (‘23) gives her take on Hunter x Hunter, an anime series that aired between 2011-2014, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi

With a very limited number of episodes, unlike many other anime, the anime Hunter x Hunter knows how to attract and maintain the attention of its audience.

The story of this anime is about a young boy, Gon, who is following the path of his father to become a hunter and aims to retrieve his father in the process. Becoming a hunter is not easy work, but with the help of his three best friends, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio, Gon will be able to grow and realize his dream of becoming a hunter just like his father, who left Gon for his own career as a hunter. The reason why Gon wants to be a hunter is because he wants to understand why his father chose the job over him. But he is not mad at him for his choice.

If you are a Naruto fan, Hunter x Hunter is the perfect anime for you to watch. That’s the reason why I watched it in the first place. In my opinion, the two series are pretty similar, but in Hunter x Hunter, there are more fight scenes which makes it more interesting. If you are like me and watch anime for the intriguing and exciting fight scenes, Hunter x Hunter is the perfect choice.

One thing that I learned in this anime is the true value of friendship: Hunter x Hunter emphasizes the fact that sometimes in life, you need to trust people—even strangers—a little more. Although, I was expecting more father-son bonding at the end, on a scale from 1 to 10, Hunter x Hunter gets an 8.5 in my opinion.
