Flashback by Arturo Olea ('17)
Morning’s coming,
Monotony, a regular day;
Forth trees odor and rays of dawn
Dispatch pigments of an anomalous day,
In a sort of life,
Nurturing aspects of nature,
Yearning a peculiar day
Outlandish,
The beast emerges,
Fiend and eagerness;
Illuminate its malice a forethought,
Preplanning,
I was his target,
The beast approaches unhurried;
While me,
Unaware and hypnotized,
A vulnerable prey
My guardian, Rocky, safeguarded me,
My soul mate and kindred spirit defeated the beast,
He was my dog, but a brother,
Rocky alternated our lives,
He sacrificed himself,
So I could live.
